Posted on my blog on Monday, June, 23, 2013. “O’ my God; we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousness; but for thy GREAT MERCIES.” Daniel 9:18. Daniel knew first hand about God’s Great Mercies. Daniel, God’s man during the Babylonians captivity (605-538 BC. He and His three friends, Sharach, Meshach, and Abednego were faithful worshipers of God. Daniel, and his three friends were taken from their families in Jerusalem to serve the ruler of Babylon. God used Daniel to interpret dreams and he became King Nebuchadnezzar dream expert. Nebuchadnezzar built a giantgantic stature of himself. Some in the court members were jealous of these handsome men of God, so they schemed; and lied about them to the King. The schemers set a trap; however, Daniel and his three friends refused to bow to the statute. They were thrown into a hotter than hot fiery furnace; but they where protected from its intense heat by an angelic being whom Nebuchadnezzar said, “Look like the Son of God” (3:2). Next, Belshazzar became ruler; Daniel was still being used by God, This drinking King who used by the devil brought out items stolen from the temple of God in Jerusalem; he decides to have a drinking party with the Holy cups, But God decided to drop in for a quick visit; and used the wall as his writing tablet. Belshazzar sees the finger of God, “Writing on the wall.” He and his drinking party were no longer drunk; but instantly, became sober. No one there could interpret God’s writing; but God had His man Daniel, in the Kings house, prepared and ready to be used by Him. Belshazzar sends for Daniel. He comes; interprets the writing, he tells Belshazzar, “Your kingdom will come down, the Medes are coming.” Finally, King Darius, takes the throne, Daniel, still being used by God, becomes his chief adviser. Again, some jealous men (seemingly they are always around) who didn’t like Daniel, and decided to trick the King into passing a law which they knew Daniel wouldn’t comply with; and would have to die. True to their scheming it happened as planned. Daniel was tossed into a den of very hungry lions. No problem. Daniel spent the night sleeping on one of the biggest, hungriest lion, the lion’s legs were wrapped around him as a blanket. In the morning the King comes running to the lion’s den, he yells, ‘Was your God able.’ Daniel answered back, “I’m here! Hahaha! my God has sent his angels, and has shut the lion’s mouth, that they have not hurt me.” (Dan. 6:22). However; Daniel didn’t die, but the schemers did; they were tossed into the den of lions; and they were all mauled; and devoured by the hungry lions. Motto of this story is: Do not be afraid of men and their schemes. Dare to be like Daniel; believe and trust in God. It doesn’t matter what the facts looks like remain faithful to Him and trust God’s plans; He will come through. Our God is a promise keeper and He will take care of his own. Remain brave, dare to be different, dare to stand alone, dare not to complied with others and follow their opinions. If you have to stand alone; do so; have your mind made up to stay with the King and stand firm, believing in God. He will never let you go! So shall it be.
