Posted with permission. The original picture was taken on the old Farm Grounds of the Illinois State Hospital, or Peoria Asylum by Deanne Lawson about 8pm on either the 24th or 25th of October, 2014. Deanne was attempting to take a photo of a swing set for a haunted house they were preparing on her iPhone 5c but for some reason, this is what she captured instead in the position where the swing set stood. The hospital grounds are the subject of local ghost lore. One well documented legend tells of Manuel A. Bookbinder Old Book, a patient who worked with the burial crew at the hospital until his own death. It is said that upon his death his physical form was seen by over a hundred of the patients and nurses that attended his funeral crying at the old elm in the potters field. A closer inspection of the casket for which he rested showed the peaceful remains of the loved figure still resting within, thus the legend of the Graveyard Elm began. The obvious question was, could this have just been a person in a Halloween costume? But Dianne is adamant that she was the only person present at the time the photo was taken and it was days before Halloween costumes would be being worn. The second picture is the original photo run through a night filter and slightly enlarged but not interfered with otherwise. In it on the right side, beside the thin tree Is what looks like a figure. I have no idea what it could be and neither does Dianne. What do you think? Could this be the spirit of Old Book or perhaps another restless shade caught accidentally on camera? *Skippy*
