The decision became official Saturday afternoon. ***** The Dolphins’ captains for the game were guard Richie Incognito, and linebackers Koa Misi and Jason Trusnik. ***** Dolphins players who did not compete against Houston included QB Pat Devlin, S Keelan Johnson, G John Jerry, G Nate Garner, TE Kyle Miller, DT Randy Starks and DE Dion Jordan. ***** Eight Dolphins players with Texas ties played against Houston; tight end Michael Egnew (Plainview, Texas), wide receiver Jeff Fuller (Texas A&M), linebacker Alonzo Highsmith (Elkins High School in Sugarland, Texas), fullback Jorvorskie Lane (Texas A&M), defensive tackle Kheeston Randall (University of Texas), defensive tackle Tracy Robertson (Baylor), defensive end Derrick Shelby (Hightower High School in Sugarland, Texas), quarterback Ryan Tannehill (Texas A&M). ***** • With the loss, Miami and Houston are now even at one game apiece in preseason action. The Dolphins have never defeated the Texans in the regular season, losing all seven contests. • John Samuda started at right guard in place of John Jerry and Jared Odrick started in place of Randy Starks in tonight’s contest. • Ryan Tannehill finished the game with a 119.0 passer rating at Houston. It was the second consecutive preseason game that the quarterback had a 100-plus passer rating. Tannehill had a 120.1 passer rating the previous week at Jacksonville (8/9). • Mike Wallace caught his first reception for 16 yards in the first quarter at Houston. He added two other catches, including a 9-yard pass from Tannehill for his first career touchdown as a Dolphin. • Lamar Miller scored his first rushing touchdown of the preseason at Houston. The second-year veteran had one touchdown as a rookie in 2012. • Aaron Corp completed his first career pass as a Dolphin, a 9-yard reception in the fourth quarter to Julius Pruitt at Houston. • Jamar Taylor saw his first action of the preseason at Houston. • Brent Grimes recorded his first career interception in the first quarter at Houston. Grimes notched 13 career interceptions in his first seven seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. • Cameron Wake recorded his first sack of the preseason at Houston. The fifth-year pro has 43.0 career sacks. • Tristan Okpalaugo recorded a sack for the third consecutive preseason game. He also recorded a sack in the fourth quarter at Jacksonville (8/9) and in the third quarter against Dallas (8/4). • Caleb Sturgis connected on a 43-yard field goal in the third quarter at Houston.
