Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Payroll and Disbursement Section of the Insurance and Disbursement Service (IDS) of the United Nations Office of Programme Planning, Budget and Accounts (OPPBA). The incumbent will report to the chief of the Payroll Operations Unit and to the Chief of the Payroll and Disbursement Section. Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, finance, accounting or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent is desirable. Work Experience A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in accounting, finance, budget, administration, including two years in the administration of payroll or other staff related entitlements is required. Hands-on experience in downloading, analyzing data and preparing ad-hoc reports or queries from an ERP system using Access, Excel or any related tool is required. Experience supervising a team is desired. Experience with the processing and payment of other allowances/benefits or with travel claims processing is desirable. Languages Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
