Mission Planning Officers report to the Mission Chief of Staff or the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG). In larger or more complex Missions, s/he may report through a Senior Mission Planning Officer. (In some settings, the Senior Mission Planning Officer and planning officers of the United Nations Country Team may be co-located in a Joint Planning Unit.) Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in social sciences, political science, international relations, economics, finance, management, development studies, or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Work Experience A minimum of seven years of relevant, progressively responsible professional experience, including in planning, evaluation, programme management or policy development at the strategic level as well as facilitating and coordinating multi-stakeholder planning processes in peace consolidation settings, is required. Experience implementing relevant UN Secretariat policies, procedures and operations, including legislative and budgeting processes, is required.
