Posting for another rescue group located in Maryland. Do not contact AGPR about this dog. If you can help, contact info is at the end of this post. Thanks. Phoenix is 4-year-old neutered male Great Pyrenees. He weighed 76 lbs when he came into rescue but in a week and a half was up to 89 lbs and is consistently gaining weight. He is still extremely malnourished and in need of some TLC. He will probably be around 120 lbs plus when hes filled out. Hes great with cats and chickens and people. Weve been told he is good with kids (but we dont have any to test him). He knows how to sit and give his paw, and is housebroken and fine loose in the house (he doesnt even get on furniture). He is very gentle about eating food from your hands. He walks well on a leash, and already comes to his new name. Phoenix would be a great pet or possible farm dog to the right home. As all Pyrenees he absolutely needs a fenced in yard. He is extremely dominant with other dogs (particularly males) and must go to a home without other dogs. Phoenix is very gentle and respectful of people. Hes good on a leash and we have walked him around other dogs. He has not been prone to lunging or acting unruly, but if left loose with other dogs becomes very dominant and will become aggressive. Phoenix is UTD on shots, heartworm negative, microchipped, and is currently on a dewormer program. If he doesnt work out we will always take him back, we want Phoenix to find the home he deserves. He will not end up in the shelter again. Currently in Bel Air, Md. Please contact Alyssa at 443-417-0069 or zeldabillyfred(at)gmail(dot)com for more information.
