Postproductionmag is proud to add two more award winning short films to its Gallery next week! From acclaimed actor / writer / director Daniel Stine of Rushaway Pictures, we share with you: #PostProductionMag Grape and The Championship Rounds. youtube/watch?v=_Nmv-E9v51o&feature=youtu.be youtube/watch?v=IvEFw-tw2FI&feature=youtu.be Grape, released in 2013, is the story of a Virginia winemaker, Grayson Delecourt, who is struggling with the loss of his daughter, and trying to decide whether or not to sell his vineyard in the Virginia countryside. Delecourt is played by esteemed actor Linden Ashby of Teen Wolf (TV Series), Mortal Kombat, Army Wives (TV Series), and Iron Man 3 fame. Creator Daniel Stine plays opposite Delecourt as Tyler, a young man who is alone, drifting, drowning himself in drink, and staring death in the face with a brain stem tumor. The two are plunged into an unexpected experience and form an other-worldly, ethereal bond when Daniel Stines Tyler crosses paths and interacts with Delecourts deceased daughter Claire who holds the secret to saving the vineyard from beyond the grave. This is a wonderfully touching and poignant story with a run-time of approximately a half hour. The other cast members are all actors with a long list of credits including Susan Walters (Married to Linden Ashby) who has had a long career including starring roles in Kill The Messenger, Star-Crossed (TV Series), Reckless (TV Series), and The Young And The Restless. Delecourts daughter, Claire, is played by the wonderfully engaging Kate Hamilton. Daniel Stine has been masterful in creating a highly dramatic, mysterious, funny, and hopeful world in this half hour film. His performance as the young, struggling, but somewhat-sagely Tyler is absolutely engaging. As with seemingly all of Daniel Stines work, Grape has been honored with a note-able list of accolades and honors including 5 award nominations at the World Music and Independent Film Festival with Linden Ashby being nominated for Best Actor. Grape was also awarded Best In Fest at the Alexandria Film Festival. This is a short film that will leave you wanting another installment from Daniel Stines Rushaway Pictures! The Championship Rounds, released in also released in 2013, was an even more ambitious undertaking for Daniel Stine and his company Rushaway Pictures. Shot in Los Angeles, The Championship Rounds is the tale of a deaf, sometimes-boxer James Deacon. Who is trying to cope withe the death of his wife, raise his infant son, find a way to pay the babysitter, and survive on the hard-core streets of urban Los Angeles. Deacon is accosted one night on his way home from work by an almost walking dead drug-addict and thug played by Daniel Stine himself. When PostProductionMag caught up with Mr. Stine he quipped that he likes to throw himself into [his] movies when he can. Its a credit to Daniel that he gave himself almost a cameo role in The Championship Rounds playing such a menacing, tragic, and pathetic character while playing it to the hilt. Stine is only in one scene of the movie and is absolutely mesmerizing. Rounds demonstrates how seasoned this young talent (Stine) has become, not only as an actor and writer, but as a director also. The starring role of the deaf boxer is played with unbelievable control and poise by Michael Anthony Spady who is actually deaf. Due to the nature of the film with its main element of boxing, Michael Bentt was brought in to train Spady for the role and also makes a cameo appearance. The rest of the cast is absolutely phenomenal. Rushaway Pictures was lucky enough to lure the tireless, veteran actor Harold Perrineau away from his endless schedule to play Darryl, the old friend of character James Deacons deceased and troubled ex-boxer father James Deacon Sr. played by the tough-performing Lawrence Gilliard Jr. of The Machinist, Gangs Of New York, and The Walking Dead fame. His performance as Deacons vice-ridden ex-star-boxer father is exact and perfect. And the fact that Harold Perrineau was part of the cast is a coup for Daniel Stine and his team. Perrineau has been seen in seemingly everything going back to the 90s with starring roles in blockbusters such as Zero Dark Thirty, Rome + Juliet, 28 Weeks Later, and an endless list of other huge films. His portrayal as Darryl is the work of a consummate professional. The team at PostProductionMag have known Daniel Stine for some time, and we would have to say that The Championship Rounds may be his finest work to date. There is also a full length feature on the way from Rushaway Pictures that is in development now, So stay tuned to what Mr. Stine has in store. As with other projects, David Hunter Jr. makes an appearance as the side-kick to Stines almost demonic, thuggish character. Mr. Hunters series The Process can also be seen on PostProductionMag. PostProductionMag is honored to have Rounds and Grape grace the pages of its site. We will be including a full page for both of these films so our readers can get more information and view them. There will also be write-ups in our Blog Section. We are also happy to announce that Daniel Stine was gracious enough to let us run another of his highly acclaimed, award winning shorts, God And Vodka, to our YouTube Channel. PostProductionMags own Ben Mochan had the pleasure of working with Rushaway Pictures as a colorist on this project. Check out the links above to view Grape and The Championship Rounds on YouTube now!
