Posts such as the one below do nothing to help Monaghan pound dogs and indeed can have an adverse affect on the rehoming of these dogs . Before posting on a public page it is always advisable to have checked out the facts such as : The policies on rehoming / release fees / dogs put to sleep etc...in Monaghan dog pound are set by Monaghan county council NOT Carrick Dog Shelter . Each and every week we get bombarded with emails and messages on social media asking us to help with dogs that are due to be put to sleep by Monaghan pound (Carrick Dog Shelter), in the last 15 minutes alone I have received 3 individual requests for us to help with 3 individual dogs that are on deaths door according to Carrick Dog Shelter. Each time we receive these requests we have to refuse help and that is hard but its simply because we are a small self funded charity, our main aim is to help the local dogs and the local pounds. We are already struggling to cope with these increasing numbers without the added cost of transporting dogs from Carrick Dog Pound over 100 miles away, nor can we afford to pay them the 70 euros that they are looking to charge us to rescue each dog. Ideally we would love to help with each and every dog but realistically and financially we can only do so much, so I would ask that people please stop sending messages, begging emails and pictures regarding Carrick Dog Shelter dogs as we really need to direct our efforts into the local dogs that need our support.
