Pounding Mochi Mochi is made of mochi rice. It is one of the things we eat for the New Year. I will post about the meaning sometime, but meanwhile, I will post the fastest ainoteintrulude pounding mochi. I am going to try to coordinate pounding mochi with this group with Naoya Morimoto, sometime in Janurary. but meanwhile, you may come across pounding mochi events out in town during the sanganichi, the first, second and third of Janurary. The video I took was on T.V. A a long established mochi shop run for six generation, in mainland japan. The process I took is the last part of the hard work. You pound it from the mochi rice, and it will take effort to make it smooth. The mochi is green because they added the mugwort. I hate mugwort but I love it when its in mochi. It is also healthy. Look at the speed of ainote.
