Pour la version française, cliquez ici NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ICCRC PLEASED WITH GOVERNMENT EVALUATION ICCRCs success a clear sign of a strong, effective regulator Burlington (ON) - August 28, 2014 - The Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC) is pleased to note the recent release of the Evaluation of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council, conducted by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). It is gratifying to see that even though the ICCRC was only established 3 years ago, the report states that we are effectively regulating the immigration consulting profession and are a well-managed, transparent and accountable organization, says Bob Brack, President & CEO of the regulatory body. The evaluation report makes several recommendations in the areas of internal governance, cost management, communications and membership growth. I am pleased that most of these recommendations have already been implemented or are being implemented Brack continued. ICCRC membership has almost doubled over the three years of its existence, to 3,000 members and its debt has been reduced by more than half. ICCRC also launched a very successful worldwide social media campaign warning consumers about the risks of retaining illegal immigration consultants in support of CICs 2014 Fraud Prevention Month campaign against unauthorized representatives. That campaign addresses another recommendation in the report: that CIC do more to raise public awareness regarding authorized representatives. ICCRC looks forward to working with CIC to implement another of the reports recommendations: that CICs training be updated to ensure that they include information about ICCRC and the processes that ensure that CIC officers do not deal with unauthorized representatives.
