Poverty in Zambia became a major concern in the decades 1990-2000 when the country moved from the one-party to the Muilt-Party system of governance in the 1991 following the ascendancy of the Movemenent for Muilt-Party Democracy MMD to power.This decade was characterized by wholesale economic liberations,Privatisation of parastatal companies by the UPND LEADER HAKAINDE HICHILEMA and the removal of subsidies on essential goods and services and agricultural inputes and exchange controls regulations.These changes brought about unprecedented hardships on the Zambian people,The pravatised Parastatal companies BY THE UPND LEADER HAKAINDE HICHILEMA brought in general poor economic performance of the country,HH BROUGHT HARDSHIPS ON OUR PEOPLE.
