Power In The Name Charles Spurgeon once told the story of a woman who had been hired by a very rich man to take care of his household. The woman served the rich man faithfully for over twenty years. When the rich man was about to die, He wrote a note on a piece of paper and handed it to her, and she was very grateful to him for this little act of remembrance. This woman lived in a little shack on the outskirts of London, and she took the piece of paper home and pinned it on the wall. Many years later, she became very sick, and Pastor Spurgeon was asked to visit her. After he prayed for her, he noticed this piece of paper on the wall of the room. He turned to the woman and asked her about it and she told him the story. Spurgeon asked her, “Madam, can you read?” to which she said, “No, I have never been taught how to read!” “Madam, this piece of paper is a check for a great deal of money! You didn’t have to be living in these poor circumstances. You could have been living in one of the greatest mansions of London!” The woman didn’t know the value behind the piece of paper that she had been given! Similarly, the name of Jesus is of immense value—it is like a blank check that God has written and signed to you. And yet it is valueless if you never cash it in; if you never use it! “Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” ~ John 16:24 Make full use of Jesus’ name as you battle against the enemy. For with it, you have authority over Satan. Through the name of Jesus, you can ask God for help and powerfully receive it! Prayer for the day: Thank God for the power, protection and provision that’s readily available to you through the name of Jesus!
