Power restored to thousands of customers overnight Posted on July 8, 2014 Power crews continue to make progress restoring power to tens of thousands of New Brunswickers. As of 6 a.m. Tuesday, roughly 65,940 customers remain without power across the province, down from 140,000 at the peak of the storm Saturday night. In the Fredericton region, there are 33,779 customers without electricity. Utility officials say most customers should have power restored by midnight Wednesday night, with the remainder expected online by the weekend. More than 200 crews from NB Power, Edmundston Energy, Quebec and Maine were on the ground Monday working to restore power to as many customers as possible. NB Power says Arthur also caused significant damage to their high voltage lines, affecting approximately 20,000 customers. Officials are asking people without power to unplug items to avoid repeat outages once power is restored.
