Practically Speaking By C. Wayne Childers Sochi Scarfs I am intrigued by a group of Oklahomans participating in a cultural exchange during the Olympics in Sochi, Russia. They are mostly professional musicians with voices and instruments hoarded on planes to share songs, play notes and give gifts. They are brave souls with great faith and bold intensions. There are 135 of them and they will travel 40-50 to a group to meet up in Moscow for concerts in music halls and churches in that city. In addition to the music, they will bring gifts hand made in Oklahoma to distribute to the participants of the Olympics in Sochi. They bring more than 1000 scarfs knit by Oklahomans with a tag bearing the source and promoting a trademark verse; John 3:16. Sochi scarfs. A local musician, Keith Ingram of Minco, is one of those sojourners. He carries the Sochi scarves and is sent with love by friends and church members at First Baptist Church. He will be away between February 4 and 14. He received a congregational prayer on February 2 and will be accompanied by prayers statewide. Will you pray also? These travelers remind us of the book of Acts in the Bible where we read of travels made by others to be a positive influence for good. The last chapter of that book speaks of the unhindered expansion of the Christian message. We trust that the John 3:16 Sochi Scarves will show the love of Jesus to people from all over the world. That the positive message will be unhindered again as the book of Acts is still being written. Keith we are proud of you.
