Practically a week has passed since my feet stepped into the land of the US and especially into the prairies of hot and romantic State of Oklahoma... Probably, I havent realized it to the full yet, - but after 5 or even 6 years of participation in the Fulbright competitions, different outside reasons for putting off my coming here, etc. Im finally here not just somewhere far and only virtually but in real reality fo 100%, - if we can say so about anything at all, ha-ha :=)). In case the charm of Oklahoma, Stillwater (the city where Im going to stay here) and local people manages to grasp me for sure, Ill be staying here during 4 or 5 years while taking part in the Ph.D. Program in TESOL/Linguistics at the English Department of Oklahoma State University (OSU) and working there as a graduate teaching assistant :;)). It will be funny to be both a student and a tutor/teacher at the same time. Hopefully, Ill find this funny combination of roles interesting and engaging, in any case. No doubt, various on-line or any other courses/seminars and real-life experience connected with academic writing and teaching writing or any other EFL/ESL aspects will be highly useful now for sure :;)). Plus there should be enough space and stimuli for different research activities, - as well as for exploring local cultural peculiarities, peoples mentality, and so on, and so forth. And, of course, some periods of holidays throughout these 4-5 years will be useful for remembering and visiting the Motherland, in any case :)). Achieving good balance in everything what we do is the most necessary thing in life, I suppose. Well strive for achieving it while being here as well, sure! :;)) As local people like to say, go folks, go, - plus keep calm and cowboy! :=)))) In the meantime, wishing super-nice and sunny rest of this summer to everyone!
