Practice time is priceless, you cant give it away - lack of organization cannot be hidden from even an average competitor. 10 Practice Time wasters… • Not having a well prepared, minute by minute practice plan • Not having all coaches prepared and understanding the plan before practice begins • Not having equipment ready • Waiting between drills to set up the next one • Waiting in line – you want short lines with multiple reps • Too much time spent explaining drills – wasted words = wasted time • Not having and “attention getter†signal that quickly gets the complete attention of everyone • Not using consistent sport vocabulary and language • Too much discussing and debating rather than practicing – after quick explanation, “ if you aren’t sure how to do the drill, stay at the back of the line until you figure it out or go see the coach – as far as the rest, let’s go†• Having assistant coaches duplicating responsibilities
