• Praise God for the gift of His Word. “The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple” (Psalm 19:7). • Pray for the victims of the terrible attack on a mall in Kenya, where a group of Somali terrorists killed at least 69 people and took scores more hostage. “. . . He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners” (Isaiah 61:1). • Pray for comfort for the loved ones of the 12 people killed in the Navy Yard shootings in Washington last week, and for healing for those injured in the attack. “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” (Deuteronomy 31:8). • After two suicide bombers blew themselves up outside a church in Pakistan this past Sunday, leaving 85 dead and more than 140 wounded, pray for comfort, healing, and an end to the rising violence against Christians in this troubled part of the world. “My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior – from violent people you save me” (2 Samuel 22:3-4). • As the U.N. General Assembly gathers in New York this week, pray for fruitful conversations and God’s divine wisdom to guide the proceedings. “He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore” (Micah 4:3). • Please pray for the loved ones of 20-year-old IDF soldier Gavriel Kobi, who was shot dead by a Palestinian sniper this past weekend. “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). • As cooler weather spreads across Israel and the former Soviet Union, pray that The Fellowship will be able to provide clothing, blankets, and heating assistance to the tens of thousands in need. “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done” (Proverbs 19:17). ________________________________________
