Praise report! 7/14/2014- Dad went in for a lung procedure to determine why he keeps getting pneumonia. We found out at that time that he had STAGE 3 COPD and a few trouble spots on his lung that could have been cancer. On 7/21/2014 we were informed dad in fact have CANCER. The exact stage has not been determined at that time. 7/25/2014- We find out it is STAGE 1 however they wanted to do more testing. They also wanted to test my dads breathing capacity. He passed the test with flying colors. In fact the docs couldnt believe how high functioning he was ( he walks 3 miles a day). 8/13/2014- The doctor says it not stage one and in fact its in his entire right lung. He advised my dad to enjoy the rest of his life. There isn only a 25% survival rate for the particular type cancer my dad has. There were no treatment options. And my dad was at risk for brian cancer. I asked my dad what he wanted to do he quickly said, Live 8/15/2014- My cousin Michelle Somerville told me about a place called Cancer Treatment Center of America. I Called at 11:30 pm and a oncologist specialist answered the phone. Two days later we were in ATL. 8/25/2014- the docs in ATL confirmed my dad did NOT have brain cancer. My dad did NOT have cancer in his entire lung. And the had a treatment plan to CURE the cancer. Typically the plan the had could work because the right lung does most of the work. But in my dads case the way his lungs are set up his left lung is bigger and is doing 70% of his breathing already. Not typical some would even venture and say a deformity. Today 9/16/2014- my dad had his entire right lung removed and is CANCER FREE. All I can say is but GOD. On Aug 13th some doctors had counted my dad out but today he is CANCER FREE. He is part of that 25%. And has a normal life expectancy. And guess what dad will being enjoying the rest of his life! As my aunt said Some people battle cancer but in my dads case CANCER was battling him and guess what cancer didnt win!
