【Pravakar Sahoo | Asia】The Maiden Budget of Modi government: Some takeaways 詳見: glocal.org.hk/articles/38580 In the last few years,high inflation, dwindling growth, low investor’s confidence, job loss and policy paralysis in many areas had resulted in high expectations from the Indian industry, investors and the people at large. Everybody looked up to the new government, led by Prime Minister Modi, to ease their pain. However, when the present Finance Minister, Mr. Arun Jailtey, presented the budget for the less than 8 months’ time of the present financial year, he had to face some challenges to meet these expectations such as depleted exchequer, uncertain oil prices due to Iraq crisis and rising food prices due to a bad monsoon. Given the context, the first budget of the Modi government may not have fulfilled expectations across sections, but is an excellent budget clearly stating the government’s intention of reviving the economy and bringing it back on a high growth trajectory of 8-9% growth rate in the next 2-3 years. #PravakarSahoo #India
