Prawns suke... A steal from a typical saraswat kitchen! Ive grown up in a traditional bhramin family, with chakolya, gulachi aamti and the whole shebang. While I was regularly fed non-veg in restaurants, I hadnt seen a raw chicken or fish up until I was married. Needless to say, I didnt know anything about traditional cooking. Post-marriage Im in a non-veg loving bhramin family.. With the help of Internet and general try and error, I sure got the hang of cooking non-veg, but I still missed the traditional touch. Luckily for me the aaji living downstairs came to my rescue! A saraswat that she is aamhi saraswat khadad! she beems proudly, We saraswats are foodies! This was the first dish of hers that Id tasted, the amazing kolmi suke or dry prawns, and I couldnt have enough of it! Slowly but surely, Ive now perfected it! Prawns themselves are so full of taste that its difficult to go wrong with them, and with a gravy like this, ought to be a winner! My non-fish loving husband gobbles this up in no time, so there are no leftovers. But this tastes doubly good when rested overnight! Cheers! With Subhash Vartikar
