Pray and Prophesy “The Spirit says, know that when you are in the atmosphere of the spirit there is always opportunity to pray in the spirit and prophesy. For I call you to enter that realm often, and from that arena you shall penetrate resistance and change events. “ Prophetic Scripture: And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied (Acts 19:6). The Book of Acts showed us that the Holy Spirit upon people was that they spoke in tongues. In some cases they prophesied. In every account given in Acts of the Holy Spirit’s baptism, people spoke in tongues. Two accounts don’t say it directly, but further research reveals it. When Paul was baptized in the Holy Spirit in Acts 9:17, it doesn’t say he spoke with tongues, but First Corinthians 14:18 says he spoke with them more than anyone. Also, the account of those filled with the Spirit in Samaria doesn’t say they spoke in tongues, but when Simon the sorcerer tried to offer them money, Peter rebuked him (see Acts 8:17-21). He told Simon, “You have no part in this matter.” The Greek word for matter is logos, which means something spoken. With all the other accounts of people speaking in tongues and prophesying, why would this be different? Plus, how did Simon see it? You can’t see a spirit, so there must have been some visible sign. He saw them praying in tongues! The evidence and the key to the atmosphere of the Holy Spirit is praying in tongues and prophesying. Pray in tongues often in your prayer times and then don’t be afraid to launch out and prophesy, just like the believers did in Acts 19:6. It’s a spiritual environment that moves things in the realm of the spirit. It’s time to pray and prophesy! Prayer: Holy Spirit, I thank You for the atmosphere of the anointing where I can pray in tongues and prophesy. Even as I pray in the Spirit today, cause me to enter new arenas in prayer with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
