Prayer Troop Address January 23, 2015 The Power of Suggestion It is said the power of Suggestion can be so great that a person can be influenced into doing a thing and think it was their idea entirely. Commercials are big business built entirely on the science of influencing the mind. The problem is it is for profit and gain and usually at our expense. Car commercials tell us that faster is better, looks are everything and the ones with money enough to get the better car gets the better girl or date. Winning seems to be everything and staying ahead of the game makes you a better person. Today, my son came crying to me telling me that he doesnt want to be in Special Ed. He said it means he is behind, not as smart as the other kids. ...He explained to me there was a Spelling game challenge in the after school program and all of the other children could spell more words than he could spell and the kids told him try harder. ...try harder you can do it until someone said, hes special ed. ... Hes not on our level. ..he gets those baby words, he cant do this work.....So with a face full of tears and a voice full of emmotion, he explained to me that being in special ed doesnt mean I learn in a different way, like I explained to him before. ..It means Im behind everyone else in my school ,in my grade. He expressed it means Im not smart. The power of negative suggestion. . So I told him the story of a little girl who saw words backwards and mixed up. ...a girl who had to be taken aside in her class so that the assistant teacher could bring her up to speed because she was behind the rest of the class. Just to have that assistant privately call her stupid everyday. The little girl would go to school and get cursed out everyday, called names, everyday, told she was broken, less than everyone else and that shell never learn how to read. But one day that assistant was overheard by the teacher and she was immediately dismissed. And that little girl was taken aside again. This time by someone who cared. And she was taught differently than everyone else. .Things took longer until one day she looked up at the board and it didnt look like a foreign language. She could see what everyone else saw and went from the worst student to one of the best. See she was never stupid. ..She jus learned differently than the rest and it took a special key to suggest that she could do more and be more to change her world. I explained that I was that little girl. .Then I suggested to my son just cause the word of God says so, that he IS more than a conqueror! I reminded him that he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him, then l made him flex his muscles to remind him that Christ is with him in power and in truth. ...Someone out there has excepted what circumstances and people said you are but Gods word cancels and overrides the power of their suggestions. You are who God says you are and your alignment with the word of God is the key to unlock that truth so everyone will know. Dont settle with who they suggest you are. God says you are far more valuable than that.
