Prayfaithfully.org devotion by Pastor Breanne Johnson, Bethel in Cedarville and Zion in Allenville Read: Psalm 96 “O sing to the Lord a new song;..” (96:1) The word “new” struck me. How do we sing something new to the Lord? We have added some new songs and liturgy; a piano and new drum to worship. Let’s look beyond the literal though. Is there a new way of being in the world, in our relationships, and in the way in which we relate to the world around us that God is inviting us into? That’s exciting business! We have new life in Christ, a singing of new songs to the Lord. It’s often scary to try out something new and can actually feel wrong or uncomfortable at first. But, I’m learning that this is normal; it will pass, after I’ve given it a few tries. We are given new life in Christ, invited to sing new songs to him, and to share in new ways of being, relating, and creating in our lives. It’s cool stuff! Also it’s good to remember that even as we try new things we have a firm foundation in Christ. Prayer: Strong and Faithful One help me to create room for the new as I trust that my foundation is firm in you. Amen.
