Precious puppy alert! Fortese is a quiet sort of boy but his poor eyes speak volumes and while its hard to imagine anyone turning their back on such suffering thats exactly what his former owners did when they abandoned him in a vacated house. Luckily for this vulnerable youngster, he was found quickly and after spending a week in his finders home was brought into our care where hes now getting the medications needed to clear up his eye issues. Hes a little shy at first and a wee bit scared of the big bad world but I soon discover that hes yearning for love and attention like any other puppy and once were outside he walks very nicely on leash, taking care of business immediately then trotting just ahead of me and looking back every so often to make sure hes doing alright. When we pass a couple getting into their car Fortese pulls toward them as if he wants to join so it seems he already knows what fun a car ride can be! This guys oversize heart has room for everyone, whether they walk on two legs or four and he greets other dogs with friendly overtures, tail wagging happily when they are near. Off-leash in the yard we have fun racing around together before Fortese shows off his sit in exchange for some yummy treats, hungrily grabbing them from my hand and then looking up hopefully for more. When I crouch down to his level he turns into a total cuddlebug, climbing on my lap and slathering my face with kisses as I try in vain to capture a photo of us together before finally giving up and giving in to the non-stop lovefest! He enjoys belly rubs too and lies contentedly while I massage his super-soft underside, eyes slowly closing as he lets down his guard and slips into full chillout mode. Fortese is a pitiful sight with his messy peepers and flat crate paws but hes not feeling sorry for himself and all he asks is the chance to enjoy the rest of his childhood carefree and surrounded by the adoring family hes never had. I love Fortese and you will too, take him home for the holidays and make your New Year the snuggliest one ever!
