Predator Races may 3rd 2014 What a great format this predator - TopicsExpress

Predator Races may 3rd 2014 What a great format this predator class has become. Our 2 main events this week featured a some of the best racing I have seen in a longtime. The 5500 rpm rule and governor rule , make this an excellent class for a racer looking to get in cheap. It is also a great format for the racer who is close to getting out due to the rising cost to maintain other engine packages. With growing kart counts , this could really be a great way to revitalize growth in the sport. Our first main had 17 entries and the second had 18. Kailey Hammond one of those veteran racers came out to play a little in this format. Kailey joined brother Kasey and 4 other drivers in becoming one of 6 drivers to win in the open tire class. At this point it was 6 races 6 faces. That total would grow to 7 by the end of the night. Kailey had to fend off hard challenges from $1000 winner Chris Sturkie and a host of other contenders to capture this win. When the dust settled Kailey picked up the win and the $200 first prize. With ony a couple of classes between the two main events , it was sure to be a dogfight for the $500 first prize in the second main event! Those expectations were soon met as the green flew and right away the top two qualifiers Isaiah Parker and Kyle Rivers were shown the way to the back. With the freight train moving by on the inside , Rivers and Parker finally got in around 10th and began the march to the front. Parker would fade and Rivers would continue that march to the front. Going into the final lap Rivers caught the front running trio of Justin Kachelmier, Chris Sturkie and Tyler Moree. Rubbing is racing and the track tends to get a lot smaller going into the last lap with $500 on the line. Rivers was forced down and lost it as he tried to squeeze into a spot that was not there. As they came off turn two the dust cleared and then there was two. Leader and winner Justin Kachelmier fought it out all the way back to the checkered flag , with Sturkie coming up short in this one. Do not feel bad for Chris, he won $1000 back in march in this very competitive class. Simple rules of box stock and the 5500 rpm rule will keep this class affordable. This class requires more driver finesse , kart setup and innovation than any class in karting. This format also offers the most chance for novice racers like Rivers, Moree, Kachelmier , and Sturkie and many more to race hard without breaking the bank. I have had several tracks to inquire about running this format. It is simple and if your track would like to use these rules , we will be glad to assist you in setting up this program. Change is on the way again and with the predator engine becoming a part of many tracks , you should consider these rules. There are many rules popping up for this engine. Ours is the only one that considers the future cost in writing our rules. The simple fact of leaving the governor in place and capping the rpms at 5500 almost appear to be that lost holy grail of karting. As I said , we have ran 7 races in the open maxxis classes. Those seven winners come from a variety of backgrounds and experience. Those winners to date are Matt Hope, David Bryant, Kasey Hammond, Chris Sturkie, Jonathan Hinson ,Kailey Hammond, Justin Kachelmier. Will your name be added next? I challenge you to purchase an engine and try it out. The speeds are less than a second off the clone and faster than clone el. It is racing , despite what it seems. We do lots of things in this class to keep it clean that could not be done in the clone classes. We swap engines after qualifying of a number of racers. You would think it would cause all kinds of fights and arguments. Just the opposite has occurred. There has been no arguing about our rule and this added layer , i suppose give the racers trust that they have a fair shake. Most all the drivers who have swapped say that you truly can not tell much difference if any , from one engine to the next. No arguing and we raced for $1000 once and $500 twice. If you would like more information send me a private message and we will go over details. Stay tuned for details on our JR predator program that we will be starting up at the next race. This we think will finally be a way to start and rebuild our jr racing.
