Prejudice is as prejudice does. I grew up in the early and middle 60s America as the kid who sounded like Col. Klink, then moved to a place in which I was the wrong color. In between I was a hippie amongst the hardhats. (Not to mention being a fat guy!) In all of those situations, it was rare for anyone to see past the superficial, but some folks were able. As for me, I learned to look for the humanity in everyone. Even Republicans. Whether it was Jehovah promising His Chosen People the land of the Canaanites or Hitler trying to purify the Master Race so they could rule everyone else, or the Manifest Destiny of removing the savages to make room for invaders whose history records them as heroes and trailblazers, or a slave trade based on ethnicity, its all about slogans and propaganda that try to undermine our common bonds, and always seems to boil down to economics.
