Premier bus accessible en Egypte aux utilisateurs en fauteuil roulant ********** Providing 1st accessible bus for wheelchair users in Egypt will be a stepping stone to facilitate day to day living for humans with physical challenges. We are aiming to provide real practical solutions to differently abled humans. Job offers available, yet they need accessible transportation to earn their living! Also children who go to school face same challenge. We already kicked off this project & have 3 accessible cars. We need a bus to support a larger number. Diversity & inclusion! What is the issue, problem, or challenge? Wheelchair users in Egypt face the major obstacle of Accessible Transportation Facilities! In addition to having a physical challenge to live with, they are also overburdened with not being able to be mobile, go to work, school, do activities etc Their life stops! Not because of being on wheelchair ! But because they cant go anywhere easily & always dependant on others to carry/drop, etc.! They end up staying in their homes & lose lots of opportunities to work & have a normal day-to-day life. How will this project solve this problem? Alhassan Foundation for Spinal Cord Injury is working on providing accessible cars/transportation to be on call for wheelchair users in Cairo. This project is one of a kind in Egypt & Middle East! Currently we managed to have 3 cars. The project boomed & is having great success. Yet 1 car takes just 1 chair/user. We want to extend our project to having buses that serve more wheelchair users to have a normal decent day to day life & simply do the basics of going to work, university, school etc. Potential Long Term Impact Long term effects: 1. Changing mindset of society that wheelchair users are not productive. 2. Having wheelchair users productive & responsible of supporting themselves/families. Not additional burden. 3. Diversity, inclusion, accepting others in schools, universities & corporates 4. Children on wheelchair go regularly to school. There is no accurate data base in Egypt regarding wheelchair users in specific or humans with physical challenges. Some sources claim they are over 7 million Funding Information Total Funding Received to Date: $1,075 Remaining Goal to be Funded: $172,925 Total Funding Goal: $174,000 https://globalgiving.org/pfil/17737/projdoc.pdf https://globalgiving.org/projects/accessible-transportation-wheelchair-users-egypt/
