Premier’s pool repairs proof that government is out of touch says ACDP “Pool repairs to the tune of R570 000 at the Premier’s official residence show that the Gauteng government is out of touch with the harsh realities of life faced by ordinary Gauteng citizens,“ said Gauteng leader of the ACDP Dr Lydia Meshoe (MPL) today. “One-fifth of the people in this province live in shacks. For them, having just one tap to call their own would be a luxury, and just one flushable toilet would be life-transforming.” “For the 2,4 million Gauteng citizens officially living in poverty, just the security of being able to rely on 3 nourishing meals a day would make a huge difference; and, for our 1,3 million jobless youth, the possibility of a monthly pay-cheque – however small – would transform despair into hope.” “It is therefore not surprising that there are so many service delivery protests in our province. The ACDP calls government to take job creation and service delivery seriously in Gauteng.” For further information, please call Palesa Yates on (082) 831-3197.
