Premium Picks Weekly Derry City – Trabzonspor 2013-07-25 – 20:45 Pick: Over 2,5 Odds: 1.65 Bookie: Tipico Stake: 8/10 Derry City will meet Trabzonspor in their second leg match of second qualifying round for Europa League. The game will take place at Brandywell Stadium in Derry. Winner of this pair will face up against better from Lokomotiva Zagreb vs Dinamo Minks in the third round. Derry City is one of the small number of clubs which is playing their domestic competitions while trying to get into the Europa League group stage, but being in competitive form didn’t bring them a positive result in the first leg as they lost to Trabzonspor 4:2. Although they kept the competitive result in the first leg, it’s hard to see Irish side progressing here against much more richer roster and more quality squad, but no doubt the Irish have set their targets on playing the third round. Turkish side entered the first leg determined to finish the job already after ninety minutes and have taken a 2:0 lead already after fifteen minutes with goals from Mierzejewski and Paulo, however eight poor minutes (from 24th to 32nd minute) cost them of 2:2 equalizer, while the Turks managed to get the 3:2 lead with a goal in 39th minute. During the second half, they were much more dominant and tried to push for the higher score, but everything they were able to do was a fourth goal scored in 52nd minute by Kacar. Derry City isn’t in the best form as they are coming from two consecutive losses in domestic league, going down to Dundalk at home 0:1 and Shamrock on the road 2:1. However, they postponed the previous league game they should have played last weekend in order to prepare themselves better for this game. Home side will be without left backs McCaffrey and Crawley who are both out for several weeks now. Trabzonspor, on the other side, probably takes the second qualifying round against Derry City as a part of preparation progress for the next season. At least, that’s what’s supposed to be having in mind the difference in the roster quality at each sides. They played quite offensive football in the first game and tried to score more goals, but were limited to a 4:2 result. Although they might have deserved a bit more, their 4:2 lead after ninety minutes doesn’t grant them progressing to the next stage and the team will have to be aware of it tonight. Turkish side has signed few players from the domestic league, adding Florent Malouda from Chelsea as their star signing this Summer, however the Frenchman isn’t allowed to play second round. Tuskish league is yet to begin, with Trabzon surely being out of the competitive form, which was obvious in their first match too, where even Irish side managed to exploit defensive mistakes twice during the game. Guests will be without recently signed central defender Osmanpasa, same as offensive midfielder Sapara and striker Janko who both missed last months of previous season due injuries. Away side is much more quality and will surely try to impose and score a few goals getting a clear progress to the next stage. However, Derry City has nothing else left but to try to attack too and see what happens. Open and attacking game is expected here, just like in previous leg while the odds are more than tasty.
