Preparation underway for Aropa Airport Ground Breaking Preparation work to reopen the Aropa Airport in Central Bougainville is progressing smoothly with full support from the Landowners, Stakeholders and the people of Bougainville. The Aropa Airport will soon witness the ground breaking ceremony that will pave way of the first phase of reconstruction work of airport facilities to be implemented. John Donna, Chairman of North Nasioi Council of Elders and Chairman of Chairmen’s in Central Bougainville says the people of Aropa and Central Bougainville are preparing for the ground breaking ceremony for the Aropa Airport next week Wednesday. Mr Donna says the ground break ceremony will also carter for traditional bel kol compensation to the landowners. He says the ceremony is expected to be launched by the National Minister for Civil Aviation, Minister for State Enterprise and the President of Bougainville, Chief Dr John Momis. At the moment the people in the area are preparing towards the event that is seen as a milestone achievement towards the development of Bougainville.
