Trivia Pyramid Mackenzie Maddie, Kendall Kalani, Nia, Chloe Maddie Ziegler, Ava Cota, Jade Cloud, Kamryn Beck, Sarah Reasons and Tealynn Adamson competed as the new ALDC team. Kalani, Chloe, Nia, Mackenzie, and Kendall competed together representing the original team. The initial airing of this episode was in a special 90-minute format. Lifetime advertised this episode as the mid-season finale, indicating Season 4 will continue afterwards. This is Kalanis last season 4 appearance. Sarah Hunt (who appeared in Mackenzies video for Its a Girl Party) was on the new team, but was kicked off due to the behavior of her mother (Christy-with-a-y). Match-ups of original members vs. replacements were: Nia vs. Sarah R.; Kendall vs. Ava; Kalani vs. Jade; Mackenzie vs. both Tea and Sarah H.; and Kamryn vs. Chloe. Maddie was given no rival competitor. Maddie also was also helping out the new team, to see how the old competition team would dance without her. This competition appears to have been a special invitational competition held by Energy, and not the open competition with published results held in Youngstown the same weekend.[1][2] A Facebook page from a different studio confirms that these PDF results are from Energy in Youngstown on the weekend in question. According to Francisco Thurston on Afterbuzz, Abby did not think Chloe deserved to win with her solo, and demanded an explanation from the judges. Francisco clarified in comments: I should be clear. Abby did not try and get the scores changed, she just didnt think that Chloe should of won and wanted to question the judges as to WHY she won.[3] Although an article posted by Christi directly contradicted Franciscos clarification, Francisco has stated that he was texting Christi, and that he was the one who sent the article to her. He also said that he was told to be quiet by my competition boss of that dance competition cause the show was not happy with me speaking the truth. (The article seems to have have been later revised and corrected to better fit Franciscos clarification, with a later retrieval failing to state what Christi had quoted.) Francisco Thurston emphatically denied reports that the competition was fake, stating Gina, the owner of Energy National Dance Competitions does NOT fake or stage or rig the competition. (The director of Energy NDC is Gina Urso-Dudash, who has appeared on the show as the mother of Candy Apples dancer Mari Dudash.) In the same message, he continued: There was nothing fake about it. Only thing that might of been staged is the fact that we had to do a OVERALL score in solos to show who beat who in the solo division cause the girls competing against each other were in different age categories. The ALDC, including its main dancers from the cast (except for Chloe), attended JUMP in Pittsburgh during the same February 14-16 weekend; JUMP results can be found at this link. Kendall, Nia, Maddie, and Mackenzie were all VIP finalists, but had to leave for filming before eligibility for scholarships.[4] Some of the performances at Jump can be seen at this link to Youtube, and there are other videos from this Jump competition elsewhere on Youtube as well. Proofs for photographs sold can be found at thomasjamesphoto.smugmug (as can many other Energy events going back to at least season 2.) Proofs for a solo by Chloe begin here; proofs for a solo by Kamryn Beck begin here; proofs for the Kendall/Kalani duet begin here; proofs of Maddie dancing with the new team begin here; proofs of Kalani dancing with the original team can be found here; what is presumably a second performance by Maddie and the new team begins here; what is presumably a second performance by Kalani and the original team begins here. Lifetimes Episode Guides call this the 100th episode of Dance Moms, although the counting method appears uncertain. This episode aired exactly two months after it was filmed.
