President Goodluck Jonathan has sacked the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Engr. Andrew Yakubu and replaced him with Dr. Joseph Thlama Dawha. A statement on Friday by Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, also appointed Mr Anthony Ugonna Muoneke as Managing Director of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC). Other sweeping appointments and changes made in the state-owned oil corporation include Ms Aisha Mata Abdurrahman Group Executive Director, Commercial and Investment, NNPC, and Dr. Attahiru B. Yusuf Group Executive Director, Business Development, NNPC. According to the statement, the new NNPC helmsman hails from Borno state and prior to his appointment, served as the Group Executive Director, Exploration and Production, NNPC and Managing Director of Integrated Data Services Ltd (IDSL), a subsidiary of the NNPC. Mr Muoneke, the new Managing Director of the NPDC, hails from Anambra state. A lawyer with over 29 years experience at both local and international levels in the oil and gas as well as the energy and power sectors. His previous appointments include serving as Executive Director, Finance & Admin, Niger Delta Power Holding Company Ltd. (NDPHC). Abati said all the appointments are with immediate effect.
