President Jonathan and 2015: the national conference and political strategy behind gathering the 492 political elites By Abbati Bako, psc The politics is a game of excellence and democracy is an elitist game. But strategy and planning is the key to political success. He who fails to plan, plans to fail. The issue of national conference in Nigerian nation is not a new thing (it happened more than 7 times in Nigerias political history) and the end result of all previous conferences were pipe dreams or (just) a political diversionary strategy to achieve political goals and selfish interest---pure and simple. The essence of politics (governance) is to solve public problems; be it political, economic or social issue. The report of the national conference during Obasanjos regime is still there documented without being utilized at all. This is an indication that the rational behind the previous conferences and the one to be held are not for the benefit of YOU THE PEOPLE! The solving Nigerias chronic problems are simple and there is no need for gathering the 492 elites and spending 7billion Naira tax payers money to think on how to solve Nigerias problems. The problems of Nigeria and the solutions are obvious even to a layman in the street. What Nigeria needs are...a leader capable of uniting the nation and establishing and enforcing of law and order among the leadership and the led. Corruption must be eradicated and good governance must be ensured at every level. The issue of security and conflicts resolutions must be tackled with urgency and the dependency on oil revenue must be avoided (Brazils dependency on oil is only 12% while Nigeria is 90%). Emphasis must be given to economy; electrical energy (Brazil has 114,000MW, Iran has 60,000, Saudi Arabia has 60,000 S/Africa has 40,000, whereas Nigeria has 3,500MW), trade and services and population control. Agriculture must be priority A and a world class education (with emphasis on science/technology, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship) to Nigerias young men and women must be ensured with urgency. The poor economy among the northerners must be solved by tackling the land-lock nature of northern Nigeria; by establishing big markets in towns and rural areas and mass literacy campaigns. The dragging of the Atlantic ocean to the north will reduce the cost of items in northern Nigeria and other African nations. The land lock regions of the world have had poor economic viability. Free, fair, credible and acceptable elections must be ensured at all levels. To be continued.......In Sha Allah Abbati Bako, psc, mti, bsis,UK
