President Obama did indeed say to the United Nations, The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam, but read the whole of his remarks before deciding its some craven dismissal of the ideals of freedom of expression. Theres plenty of room to criticize the president, but I dont think its fair to say that hes capitulated to those who respond to speech they dont like with violence. For instance, one could reasonably ask whether the presidents administration would characterize todays attack in Paris as workplace violence if it had occurred in the United States.
