President Obama has demonstrated that he is more concerned about the people in other countries than people in his own. While it is important and humanitarian to help those in Western Africa who are suffering from Ebola, it is also important the the disease be contained in its countries of origin. The job of the federal government is to take steps to assure that Ebola does not come here. Americans are potentially more susceptible to the Ebola virus because we have not been exposed to it over the years, and do not have what is called herd immunity. If Ebola infected patients were to come here without restrictions, believing that they could get better care in the US, the disease could spread quickly and our hospital system could become overwhelmed. We need strong leadership in Washington, DC, to protect our borders and protect the American people. -Alieta Eck, M.D.
