President Obama scored political points when told his republican challenger Mitt Romney during 2012 presidential elections that the US Army dont need more military knives and submarines but to be effective and competent in the cyberspace. I know nothing about military matters and how they could swap the trigger of the gun with the click of mouse. But theres the something I have observed. Online platforms - News Websites and social media - have become a lethal political weapon in Somalia. These platforms are manned by semi-literate hirelings masquerading journalists and political commentators. They are nothing but tribal online warriors for hire. They propagate hate and hatred. Lets face this poisonous fact - most of our bloggers and news websites carry water for their paymasters or myopic tribal overlord. They distorts facts to exploit the public opinion. Political thuggery - take a deep breath - has gone digital. But the online warrior is more civil than the gun- wielding animal, albeit equal destructive. Thats because they use brain instead of brawn - brute force. No bones broken, no lives lost, no stones hurled and no limbs amputated - at least as a direct consequence of their online diatribes. Let me personally concede this - I am a frequent user of online platforms. I often blog, facebook and tweet. Some of my posts are critical. But I carry water for nobody. None. I just express my views as I see it. No politician is immune from my critical pen. Even the Harvard economist is not.
