#President Obama unveiled yesterday an #executive order that may provide millions of undocumented #immigrants permission to live and work in the US for up to 3 years. At the same time, he requested that congress pass an #immigration reform law to provide a permanent solution or a path to citizenship. Republicans question the lawfulness of the President’s actions to avoid taking responsibility and addressing the immigration issue themselves. It is my legal opinion that the president has the legal authority to issue this executive order, however, this is only a temporary measure and our country needs more to fix our #broken #immigration system. Congress should therefore act and take a vote on the current immigration reform bill that has been pending for more than a year, before it expires in January 3, 2015; instead of engaging in frivolous lawsuits and government disruption.
