Presidential Salute to you, Goodluck Jonathan! The full and unwavering reintegration of Ndigbo into Nigeria has been long overdue. Regarding Igbo reintegration, past administrations made tepid efforts in some cases and reversed course in other instances. It was a lukewarm and ambivalent approach until our beloved President Goodluck Jonathan came on the scene. The rest, as they say, is history. Look all around Nigeria of today and youll see the great handwork of Jonathan in the advancement of national unity and reconciliation. In my opinion, the next president of Nigeria after Jonathan, should be a man or woman of Igbo extraction. Yes, the time has come for Nigeria to right old wrongs and move towards attaining its full potential as a strong, united nation. Failure to do that will surely result in the eventual breakup of the country. I understand that the ongoing campaign to destabilize the Jonathans administration is partly based on the fear of a possible Igbo presidency. Yes, there are very powerful forces out there who are hell-bent on making sure that no person of Igbo ethnicity ever becomes the president of Nigeria-----at least not in their lifetime. Remember, a good number of the corrupt, opportunistic, and narcissistic men who went on to grossly misrule Nigeria following their successful prosecution of the Biafra War, are still around. In fact, they regard the natural resources of the South-East, the Niger Delta, and indeed the rest of Nigeria as spoils of war. And thats precisely how they did business while in power for more than 40 years. Its also one of the reasons why they unjustly allotted several billion-dollar oil blocks to themselves, their wives, girlfriends, cronies, foreign partners, Sultans, Imams, Emirs, etc. A segment of that group also regards the entire Nigeria as an estate of their great-grand-father, Usman Dan Fodio. They know that the Igbo are finally next in line to rule Nigeria, but to prevent that from happening, they must, using their Boko Haram militia, wage a war of attrition against Jonathans government in hopes of wresting power away from him. The arrangement is to have a Muslim president from the North and a Muslim Vice-President from the South-west. And if that succeeds, they could solidify that arrangement and keep rotating power among themselves until the whole of Nigeria is not only fully Islamized, but purged of any yearning after an Igbo or any other Non-Muslim Head-of-State. If they succeed, the entire Niger Delta, including its oil wealth, will become their private property, too. Listen, the Jihadist North ruled for a whopping 38 years. The South-west had its turn under Olu Falae and Obasanjo. The Middle Belt had nine years of General Gowon, and the Niger Delta is about to have eight years of Jonathan. The South-East? Just six months of the late General Ironsis rule. We can no longer afford to have the Igbo, a major segment of Nigerias population, cast aside and denied the right to ascend the Nigerian presidency. The shameful discrimination must stop henceforth.
