Press Release 13-09-2014 -Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf’s chairman Imran Khan, President Punjab Ejaz Ahmad Chaudary, General Sectary Punjab Yasmeen Rashid and Sectary Information Andleeb Abbas said in their joint statement that they condemn the unlawful arrests of their workers; government has turned this country to a police state. Punjab police is raiding the houses of peaceful and unarmed workers, Nawaz Government and Punjab Police have gone too far with their state terrorism, police raids the homes of workers at night and is misbehaving with women which is a shame for this government, the workers are being arrested from across the province of Punjab and put to jails, phony cases are being registered against them, why are the rulers afraid of a peaceful protest? The voice of the people cannot be suppressed through state terrorism, he added that the police is taking orders from the federal and provincial governments and is terminating the constitution and law of Pakistan. We demand the Supreme Court to intervene and take sou moto notice of the unlawful arrests of the peaceful workers of PTI, he said the arrests of the peaceful workers reflects the dictator mind setup of Nawaz, who killed innocent people in the horrific mass murder incidents of model town and Islamabad, bullets were fired at unarmed people and the people who fired those bullets are roaming around instead of being behind bars, there is nothing like law in our country, the government on one side play-acts or pretends to reconcile and on the other side hypocritically arrests the peaceful workers, the government is not serious about resolving the problems at all. No negotiations are going to be held until all the workers are set free. The government of violence and abuse cannot work for long. He said many people were stopped from different districts of Punjab from going to the protest. It is our democratic and lawful right to protest and nobody can stop us from that. The use of state force or torture by the government cannot make PTI to retreat from their rightful stance. He said that the ‘Gullu Butts’ of Punjab Police are mercilessly being vengeful against our workers, there is a civil martial law in Punjab, government cannot discourage the workers of PTI through their monopoly on violence. The government should not test the level of patience of our workers, if the state violence and abuse continues then protests will spread like fire in every city, government should come to its senses and not force our workers to become enraged. It is the duty of the state and government to protect the lives and belongings of the people. Media cell PTI Punjab
