In a press statement issued in Ibadan by the coordinator of the congress, Comrade Kunle Adeyemi said its fast becoming unbearable of a democratically elected government to foist hardship on people who through their franchise voted Isiaka Ajimobi into office as governor. According to him, “THE reign of terror visited on inhibitants of Oyo state with the urban renewal development programme of the ANC led government, commercial commuter operators are now compelled to register the vehicle owners, drivers and stickers with imposed taffic of N6, 500. “The implementation of the new traffic regime apart from vehicle licence, road worthiness would further bring untold hardship on the people who were already impoverished with various taxation and levies imposed on people.” Comrade Adeyemi noted that “the untold hardship is biting hard on people whose meagre sources of income had been jeopardised by the urban renewal programme embarked on by the government while life and living condition are fast becoming deplorable.” For example, if a taxi driver who registered a cab with all necessary documents are now being forced to register as an operators. The cab owners were not left out of the new taxation regime. The brunt of such imposition of the taxation comes on the innocent people of the state who sources of income had been wittle down with various forms of government policies. As side, hawkers and those selling by the roadside were been clamped down into prison yards without trails, while lay-magistrate of such courts sit very late in the evening .
