Press Release: Effective ways to address technological unemployment The serious problem of technology unemployment, its consequences on the job market and the development of entrepreneurship were highlighted by the president of hyphen SA, Mr. Yannis Stergis. During a recent interview on local channel TV100, Mr. Stergis appeared on “Akou na deis” show and discussed with reporters Maria Anagnostidou and Konstantinos Loutzioudis. As Mr. Stergis remarked, by the end of the 90’s, hyphen SA group has proved and demonstrated, through the business model it has created, the ways of coming to grips with technological unemployment. “Technological unemployment can have two forms: certain job types are replaced by machines (i.e. computers), so employees who can be costly are no longer necessary, or technology allows a customer to search for suppliers with competitive prices anywhere. This is something we experience extensively today, especially in the services industry” added the president of hyphen SA. Addressing young entrepreneurs, Mr. Stergis invites them to lifelong learning programmes so that they can use their training and skills in the international job market. In addition to this, Mr. Stergis noted that every Greek entrepreneur should not just launch a new business but also create the conditions where staff can see their employer as a client for their skills and expertise. In relation to the prevention of further problems created by technological unemployment, Mr. Stergis mentioned the ariston project, which is a reference framework of professional and business skills; it is also a think tank based in the UK and part of hyphen SA.
