Press Release: Live Eviction Show DStv audiences saw housemates Motamma and Betty being evicted from Big Brother: The Chase on Sunday after receiving the fewest votes from the continent this week. Moments before IK revealed the names; Ruby Head of House Bassey wasted no time and announced that he replaced Pokello with Oneal, while Diamond’s Annabel confidently told IK that she replaced herself with Motamma. Once the SizweNtsalubaGobodo auditor had delivered the verified voting results, IK got down to the business of evictions. After a tense pause, he sent Motamma home first, followed by Betty. Once Motamma emerged from the house, she told IK that she loved everyone in the house and had just been herself. She also wished her friend Feza all the best with Oneal, saying that the duo would make “a really good couple”. After saying her goodbyes to Bolt, Betty joined IK on stage and told him that she’d always believed in herself during her time in the house. 2013 Zambian Music Award winner Pompi added some extra star power to the eviction show with his hits ‘Giant Killer’ and ending with ‘Packaging’. New Media specialist Boity Thulo showed viewers how to send a message to the strapline which runs across the bottom of Big Brother screens 24/7. There are three simple ways to share your views with Africa – tweet your message using #bbathechase or #bigbroafrica; by using the ‘Message to TV’ app on facebook/bigbrotherafrica or by SMSing your message to the shortcode for your country – the same number you use to vote to keep your favourite housemate in the game. Earlier in the week, Diamond housemates got their own back in the Airtel Arena Showdown, beating the Ruby housemates in a game of dominoes. Head of House Annabel chose to bring Selly and Cleo across to the Diamond house. She then sent Bolt and Betty the other way. Viewers also got a chance to hear from last week’s evicted housemates. Biguesas said that he’d known the second he woke up last Sunday, that he’d be going home. He said that being in the Big Brother house taught him to expect anything from anybody. Neyll couldn’t wait to get home to spend time with his 1 year-old daughter and that he’d felt “naked” without his laptop and internet connectivity. He’d particularly enjoyed the Friday Airtel Arena Showdown games because everyone had to work as a team. The romantic gesture with the most viewers vote for last week went to Hakeem for his gifts to Cleo. The moments that viewers can vote for this week via Twitter are (A) Bimp giving Beverly a piggyback and (B) Elikem’s breakfast in bed, which he made for Pokello. Viewers can vote via Twitter (with #BigBroAfrica or #BBATheChase) or on the Facebook app choosing ‘A’ or ‘B’. Voting for the romantic gesture started immediately after the live show and closes Monday at 20:00 CAT. This week’s viewer vote winners were: HD PVR Decoder - Evidence Maengamhuu (Zimbabwe); Uhuru Tablet – Jackson Kanchiputu (Malawi) and DStv Walka – Moipone Magwedi (South Africa). Don’t forget to vote to keep your favourite housemate in the game after Monday’s nominations, to stand a chance to win! For our Nigerian audience: please note that viewers who wish to watch Big Brother: The Chase on channels 197 & 198, have to ‘opt in’. To do so, text “YES” and the first 10 digits of your smartcard number to 3033. SMS charges apply. Africa’s biggest reality show is headline sponsored by Airtel and produced by Endemol South Africa.
