Press Release The Amherst County Sheriffs Office is investigating a homicide that occurred Wednesday evening December 31st. At approximately 1120 pm, a call was received from an employee at the Bestway Inn, 4512 South Amherst Highway for a stabbing that had occurred. On the arrival of Emergency Medical Services and Deputies a white male was found with multiple stabbing wounds. This subject was pronounced dead and was later identified as Clayton Thomas Morgan, a 43 year old male from Gladstone Virginia. A second male was treated and transported to Lynchburg General Hospital for minor wounds. This male is not being identified at this time. Mr. Morgan’s body has been transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for autopsy. The investigation is ongoing as investigators continue to gather evidence and meet with the Commonwealth Attorney.
