Press Release for September 8, 2014 meeting, by Gloria Dobberfuhl For all those who have wondered how to organize, edit, print and share family history photos, the September 8, 2014 meeting of the Blue Hills Genealogical Society is for you. Richard Kuula, long time Picasa user, family historian and photographer will present a program on using Picasa. The meeting will be held at the Blue Hills Genealogical Society’s meeting room in the basement of 410 E. LaSalle, Barron at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome. Please enter through the back door of the building. Picasa by Google is a free, powerful and easy to use computer program which uses facial recognition software to help identify and organize persons in your photos. Mr. Kuula will teach us how to install and use the basic features of this great application. You are welcome to bring your laptops and work along with the instructions being given. The Blue Hills Genealogical Society sponsors a Pioneer/Century Certificate program for persons having a relative that resided in Barron County by 1871 or 100 years or more ago. Applications for the certificates are available from Gloria Dobberfuhl, and are due to her by September 10, 2014 along with the application fee of $10. You can become a member of the Society at one of its monthly meetings or by going online to their website rootsweb.ancestry/~wibhgsbc. The Society maintains a Resource Room open to the public Mondays 1:00-4:00 p.m. and Thursdays 4:30-7:30 p.m. in 410 E. LaSalle, entrance by the back door.
