Press Release in Reference to Yesterdays Bank Robbery: Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Timothy Fitzgerald, Warren Township Chief of Police William E. Keane, and Watchung Borough Chief of Police Joseph Cina announce the arrest of Jason A. Aguilera, age 27, of Main Street, Millburn, New Jersey. Prosecutor Soriano states that on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Warren Township Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the TD bank located on Mountain Boulevard. A witness advised responding officers that after exiting the bank, the suspect entered a 2012 Honda Pilot and proceeded eastbound on Mountain Boulevard. Watchung patrol units initially observed the suspect’s vehicle and were then joined by Warren patrol units as the suspect attempted to elude them. As the suspect traveled eastbound towards the Watchung circle, he crashed his vehicle into another occupied vehicle causing his vehicle to become disabled on Hughes Lane. Prosecutor Soriano states after exiting his vehicle and attempting to flee on foot he was apprehended by Watchung Officers on Lakeview Avenue. The suspect was identified as Jason A. Aguilera and he was in possession of currency from the robbery. Prosecutor Soriano states that detectives from the Warren Township Police Department, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Squad, and a Special Agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (Franklin Township Field Office), responded to conduct the investigation. No injuries were reported at the time of the robbery or the vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that defendant Aguilera entered the bank wearing a ski mask, dark gloves, dark clothing, and he purported to be armed and received an undisclosed amount of money from a bank teller. The bank was occupied by bank employees and customers at the time of the robbery. Defendant Aguilera was charged with Robbery, 1st Degree and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, 3rd Degree. Defendant Aguilera was lodged at the Somerset County Jail. Bail was set by the Honorable Kimarie Rahill, J.S.C.at $100,000.00 no 10% option cash only.
