Press Statement 28 September 2014 Gen. Palparan Pre-Trial From Bonifacio to Bulacan: A long way to go Will Gen. Palparan be escorted in handcuffs tomorrow by his military bodyguards cum caregivers to the Bulacan court all the way from Fort Bonifacio? Or will he ride on their shoulders? Will he be delivered at all? Or will there be another trick up their sleeves? Will the military abide by any court order to take him back to a civilian detention facility as prayed for in the pending motion by the mothers of the disappeared university students? Or will it concoct in cahoots with people cut from the same cloth new ways & means to keep him in their good company? Let us cut to the chase. Long-retired Palparans apparent legal acrobatic move is contrived as it is entertaining. First, petition through all sorts of excuses for the transfer of his detention to military custody far away from the court. And then later ask for the transfer of the venue of the proceedings as the court is now way too far. Cute. Will Palparan continue to dribble the legal proceedings mindlessly and try to wear down the mothers, the witnesses, supporters and their lawyers? Even futilely intimidate and taunt them thru his fanatics and the herded clueless in the hope that his woes will just go away eventually? Human nature tells us that an immaculately innocent person would raise the devil in protest against the minutest of delay to prove his innocence so that he can be set free forthwith. Not run away. And while we are at it, where is President BS Aquino in all these detention hullabaloo by the way? Will he also escort Palparan to a civilian jail just like he did to Napoles? Where does he stand? Is he condoning the special treatment or looking the other way? What gives? Who is running the show? Is the disappearance of Shirley and Karen also just another case of the missing for him just like media killings he callously dismisses? Its still going to be a long and winding road for the search for justice in the present courts. With this pre-trial in more sense than one, there is no clear end in sight yet, not even a pale shimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Might the light yet turn out to be that of the oncoming runaway train of impunity going berserk? We will not be worn down. #e Reference: Private Prosecutors by: Edre U.
