Press Statement Resurgence Of Hostilities In Rivers: PDP Blames Amaechi The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP says it’s worried over the spate of hostilities across the State which appears to have taken a dramatic dimension since certain detained undesirable elements and suspects were set free on the orders of the State Government. Regretting the resurgence of criminal activities, the party cited the recent invasion of Obagi, Ede Obite, Egi town, Obieze, Obimiri and Akabuka all in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area which has claimed over 15 lives as provoking a nagging fear among the populace. The party also draws attention to renewed cult clashes, kidnappings and indiscriminate killings in parts of Ogoni including Baen, Kpean, Wiiyaakara, Kaani, Kpaa and Okwali etc which have also claimed unspecified number of causalities all due to irresponsible and uncaring political leadership of the State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi. The Party still insists the hoodlums and bandits behind all this mayhem cannot be different from those unjustly set free by the State Government understandably to use them for election fraud in 2015. It’s now very clear why Gov Amaechi and his cronies were after the police and other security agencies that had penetrated the hideouts of these delinquents, accusing them of trumped-up charges so as to pave way to actualize their political motives through reign of terror,” the PDP notes. The Party however, enjoins all youths in the State to shun all acts capable of disrupting the peace and development in the State, stressing that Gov Amaechi should be held responsible should these criminalities continue.
