Press TV has conducted an interview with Ali al-Ahmed, director of IGA, from Washington, about the transitional government in Yemen under pressure to step down by millions attending anti-government rallies. The following is an approximate transcript of the interview. Press TV: Our guest Mr. Qubaty (Mohamed Qubaty, former Yemen Ambassador to Lebanon) strikes a very positive note saying it is likely that the fuel subsidies may be brought back in. So then, why would the Security Council release a statement or is it simply out of touch with what is happening on the ground in Yemen? al-Ahmed: I think the National Security Council is relying on a few sources: number one is Mr. Omar; the Persian Gulf states; and the United States. They are on the same page regarding the situation in Yemen. This is a very dangerous precedent. I smell that the Persian Gulf countries Qatar and Saudi Arabia primarily on one side with the United States behind them, with the UN Security Council, are preparing for something very bad to happen in Sana’a. It could resemble what happened in Egypt. So, people must be careful about the designs of this camp vis e vis the situation in Yemen. We know very well that the current Yemeni government is not representative of the people of Yemen and the best way to resolve the issues is to include everyone who is part of Yemen, who is a Yemeni in that government equally so they could discuss and resolve the issues in Yemen – which are major issues. Unfortunately, the interference of the Saudis and Qataris in Yemen has been mostly negative and aimed at depriving and isolating parts and important parts of the Yemeni population from the centers of power. presstv.ir/detail/2014/08/30/377051/ksa-qatar-meddling-in-yemeni-affairs/
