Ski Hitchin We are close to receiving final planning permission to redevelop the land that is currently Windmill Hill, The Dell and the land currently used by Queen Mother Theatre. The development is to build a world class ski resort, named SKI-HITCHIN. The project is backed by a property investment consortium based in Russia and would bring hundreds of thousands of tourists to Hitchin. Hitchin is sadly dying from the inside. Commerce has all but died in Hitchin over the past years, mainly due to out of town shopping which has become a preference for the populace. Using the currently design guidelines from Churchgate and Wilkinsons designs, we hope to carry this contemporary look to the hill. Windmill hill is currently used by drunks, drug users and the unemployed as a open air doss house. By converting this existing wasteground to a 21st concrete winter wonderland, we hope to play our part in regenerating this tired town to its former glory.
