[Press release by Barap Namgyal Bhutia, SDFs Social Media Cell] The farce created with regard to MR/Work Charged employees of Power Department is condemnable. We have witnessed procession/rally and slogan shouting during the last couple of days by our colleagues working under MR/Work Charged basis in Power Department. This is, we believe unnecessary which may vitiate the peaceful ambience of our State. For all of us, let us consider the following: 1. On the basis of announcement made by the State Government, the process of regularization started before election but was temporarily suspended due to enforcement of Election Code of Conduct. 2. With regard to Power Department of all the departments, without approval of the then Power Minister, on its own issued the regularization order without full verification of documents necessary in all such cases. Who is to be made responsible for this unholy haste??? 3. The State Government very rightly decided to go for thorough verification/re-verification of the documents required for such decisions. We would like to ask what is the harm. Why are you feeling insecure or jittery about it??? 4. As a domiciled Sikkim Subject holder, we should whole heartedly welcome and cooperate to complete proper verification as this will give justice to real Sikkimese. In regular appointments, police verification is also necessary. 5. There is due process and laid down procedure for regularisation. It would be advisable that we keep our patience and let the process completed unhampered. 6. This process should be welcomed as it ensures identification of fake documents including fake COI which needs to be summarily cancelled in the interest of Sikkimese people. 7. Subject to confirmation - we have heard that the DOP has unearthed some fake documents with regard to many existing MR/ Work-Charged employees. 8. And lastly, we find it appropriate that the MR/Work Charged employees are paid their MR/Work Charged salaries as of now until the regularization process is concluded. Barap Namgyal Bhutia Incharge.
